The 25th edition of the Festival will be longer than usual. Get ready for 10 days, 11th – 20th of September 2020!

Ludwik Wilczyński

Born in 1947. Trained as a musician and classical philologist (Nicolaus Copernicus University, Torun, Poland). His first climbs took place in 1968, after a few years of summer and winter tourism. Member of the Mountaineering Club Bydgoszcz ( until 1973), later Mountaineering Club Toruń. Lives near Krakow, in the vicinity of the South Jura valleys.

In the Tatras, his new routes include “Dosia” on the west face of Kościelec (VI +), “Lista Obecności” on Wielka Turnia (winter classic), and “Klepsydra” on Litworowy Ratusz (winter classic). He has made the first winter ascent of the Dieska route on the west face of Lomnicky Stit, more than 50 first Polish and first classic ascents as well as difficult summer and winter mountaineering “classics”.

First Polish ascents in the Alps and Caucasus : the North face of Les Drus, the North face of the Grand Pilier d’Angle, Mont Blanc, Galbraith Route on the west face of Aig. Blatiere, the North face of the Tiu Tiun Bashi dr Chergiani, the Garf’s Route on Chatyn- Tau and the classics such as the North face of Les Droites, the Greloz-Roche route on the North face of Aig. Additionally, a few dozen ascents of Alpine summits via different routes, both with partners and during guiding. Ludwik still has big plans.

New routes in the mountains of the world: East face of Dhaulagiri (8167 m), South face of Huandoy Oeste (6356 m) in the Andes and the North-East pillar of the Peak of the 30th Anniversary (6447 m) in Pamir, as well as the first Polish ascent of the southwest face of the Independence Peak (6850 m).

Ludwik has been a mountaineering instructor since 1985 and an IVBV mountain guide since 2001. In the past, president of the Mountaineering Club Toruń and chairman of the Polish Mountaineering Association Sports Commission. Currently president of the Polish Association of Mountain Guides PSPW-IVBV. He publishes in: „Taternik, „Góry” and on the website: He took part in the film “My Little Everest”.

His favourite entertainment is listening to classical music and jazz, ski touring and sport climbing (various regions of France, Frankenjura, Japan, Squamisch, Corsica, Sardinia, Kalymnos, Slovenia).

He learnt great mountaineering from Gienio Chrobak and Tadek Łaukajtys. His most important sport and personal partners were: Walenty Fiut, Wojtek Kurtyka, Krzysztof Pankiewicz, Henryk Zakrzewski.
